4.5 Business exclusivity protection rate
The Business Orientation with the strongest output protection is the Expert Orientation, as its solutions are always unique and individualized. Protection is therefore automatic, with no need for legal or other measures to prevent copying. A dentist does not have to legally protect his patient’s dental treatment in any way.
The Product Orientation can safeguard its inventions through copyrights. However, despite all protective measures, products are never fully secure against imitation.
The Self-Service Orientation cannot rely on legal measures to prevent competitors from adopting the same self-service model. A supermarket owner, for example, cannot prohibit a competitor from opening a similar supermarket nearby.
The Commodity Orientation has no legal means of protection either. A gold mining company, for instance, cannot stop a competitor from also supplying gold to the Market.
