3.8 Economic time
The role of time may be perceived differently in each Business Orientations.
For the Expert Orientation, time serves as a supportive agent in searching for and executing client solutions.
In the Product Orientation, time is seen as the more or less regular cyclical replacement of old products by new ones.
In the Self-Service Orientation, time is reflected in cumulative economic growth or decline.
The primary notion of time in the Commodity Orientation is not economic but natural. A farmer can grow wheat only by aligning with natural seasonal cycles. However, for a speculative trader on the Commodity Exchange, time exists merely as a factor in speculation.
